Abstract: Niobium crystals can dissolve large quantities of drogen on interstitial sites. Alloys containing hydrogen on interstitial sites. Alloys containing two hydrgen atoms perniobium atom have been made. Various disordered and ordered arrangements of hydrogen are possible. Disorder-order phase transitions of the hydrogen occur which are correlated with structural phase transitions of the niobium crystal. Whereas these phase transitions require diffusion of drogen, the unit cells of the various niobium structures in the Nb-H system can be generated by relatively small distortions of the unit cell of pure niobium. Therefore, most of the Nb-H phases can becalled interstitial solid solutions or interstitial all sites. [...]
